    To nemi: High-end gamingsystem

    Tweakers.net Best Buy Guide: editie november 2011 | High-end gamesysteem | Core | Tweakers.net Reviews

is this a good pc worth the money?
what im afraid of is that that build is from november 2011 thats almost a year ago, and you know how computers become like obsolete in 2 months with all the newer stuff coming out every month.

heres what i did with some advice from someone.

Everything is very solid. For example the Crucial SSD, it's the most reliable SSD out there right now. XFX power supplies are also Seasonic rebrands, Seasonic is one of the very best power supply manufacturers for desktops. i5 2500K is a very solid CPU too, it's likely that nothing will be released any soon that could match it in performance. 6950's offer a very good price to performance rate as well. I wouldn't really change anything about that build. You have gone a very good job.

Ther AMD 7xxx-series are on their way, I'd personally wait a month to see if they affect the market at all and only get parts then. But the 6950's are still really solid cards. And it could take months before those new 7xxx-series get any proper non-reference cooling solutions.

Well Gigabyte makes more reliable motherboards than AsRock, for sure. Also the CPU cooler is better. I don't like the Club3D video cards though, replace them with something like MSI, Asus or Gigabyte. Samsung SSD's are very solid too. The CPU cooler on this latter build is a very good one as well. If it was a build for myself, I would get the latter set with the video cards from the first build.

Well the high-end cards will be released first, and then later comes the budget-tier cards. They are supposed to replace the current gen cards pretty far, so the prices will probably be pretty much like the current generation.

i7 is overkill for a gaming machine. Would be justified in a rendering machine, but it's just way too powerful for a gaming box, you wont be able to use all the torque it gives. An i5 2500k coupled with a good cooler and 2x 6950's is way better.

That's not enough to justifu purchasing an i7. It would be fine if the machine was for server use, a bitcoin miner or supposed to render highres movies 24/7. An i5 is pretty far the best one that a regular consumer could somehow justify.

Well um, 2 cards is like, 2 cards. The total performance will skyrocket with 2 cards, youll be able to hook up more monitors etc. 2x 6950's offers massive performance at a nice price point.

Since this machine is primarily for gaming anyway (or gaming is one of the most intensive task it's required to do), you should spend more on the GPU('s) than the CPU.
